Would the 458 Speciale be better with a manual transmission

After watching the reviews, I'm not sure. I love real transmissions, but I'm almost think that it's so fast and bonkers that having a proper 6-speed have made the car worse.

Am I crazy?

There's a performance/weight threshold at which a manual makes the driving experience worse than a comparable DCT.

The F10 M5 for example, just doesn't work with the shift-it-yourself gate, what with a 4300 lb. curb weight and 560 HP peak output. Pretty sure a majority of these supercars nowadays (save for the current 991 GT3) would be better with an Auto/DCT 'box.

I don't think you're crazy.

This is a car that deserves a DCT.

I don't think there should be any shame in saying that anymore.

Manuals are fun, and engaging to drive. I currently DD one and it's great, but you're right - in a car like this, unless you're Senna's firstborn you're probably not talented enough to drive it well with three pedals.

Thank you, so I'm not crazy. I have a WRX and that's pretty darn fast and I can't really imagine going as fast as this 458 can go. I'm a good driver, but I'm not a Pro and I don't think I would be able to enjoy the car as much with a 6-speed.

I've asked myself this question a few times. I love manuals, but this car is so quick I don't think it would make sense like you said.

Whether it should have a manual or not, this is one car I would be just fine with not having a manual. It's my favorite modern Ferrari right now. Well, not counting the LaFerrari or FXX K

I totally understand

I strayed from our lord savior 3 times

I talked my dad into buying an F430 with F1 cause it seemed cool and stick shift cars were too hard to find

And I bought 2 paddle shift M3s

I have been punished for my sins. The F car was out of commission for nearly a year cause of the damn F1 box

And I almost got stranded in downtown LA because the DCT in the e90 M3 freaked out.

Now I'm Manuél for life. I don't want to buy anything but stick ever again, if it can be avoided.

It is best served performance wise with the DCT. Would it be fun with a Manuél?

Oh hell yes. Much, much hooning.

For me and some others, I see the benefits of paddles....when lap times matter paddles offer accuracy and can improve concentration while lessening the chance of a screw-up (ie: money shift). It makes sense that the Challenge cars come only with that option. For the street however, I'd love the third pedal so I can easily pop it in neutral and rev it at will. But then again I'm still 12-years old at heart.

Also many Koenigsegg. All I want for Christmas is a CCX with a manual transmission and a Morgan 3 wheeler. I think that's Jalop enough.
